CLOSER

A man's beard is a statement. Its shape, colour, length, texture, and proportion generates a persona. To some, it's a mask; to others, an accessory. To all, it is transformative. It is a figure of entropy, as unique as a fingerprint. It speaks for him, sometimes quietly, sometimes louder than his words.

A man's beard is his statement. It is his responsibility to determine what it is communicating.

In a moment of reflection, tinged with vulnerability yet full of control, a man asks himself: 'Who do I desire to be? What do I want to say?'

Self portrait. Featured in the 2015 Vive L'Homme Exhibition in Brisbane, Australia. On display through 25 October 2015.
