Nathanael is a figurative exploration into an ideal of masculinity. It is a piece that seeks to highlight the ambiguity and lack of emotion by which men are often defined.
A rugged beard, well-groomed hair and stern expression only frame the depth of emotion revealed in just a glimmer in the eyes, the slight furrow of the brow. It is a face held delicately in the balance between reflectivity, assertion, and indifference.
